The moment furious Dagen McDowell releases the Kraken on Juan Williams: ‘Saw this live and backed it up to watch over and over’

Fox News Dagen McDowell blew up on fellow network contributor Juan Williams this Friday after Williams tried to dismiss Attorney General Bill Barr’s otherwise valid and arguably necessary investigation into the origins of the Russian collusion investigation.

The fiery outburst occurred during a discussion on FNC’s “The Five” about Barr’s claim that the Democrats are purposefully trying to discredit him and his investigation because they fear what the investigation might ultimately uncover about the Obama administration.

“What’s going on is an investigation of the investigators as punishment coming from an administration that is overwhelmingly political,” Williams said in defense of the Democrats. “Right now, really, they are distracting from the real news with all of this silliness.”

He added that a recent Fox News poll allegedly found that “45% of Americans believe that Barr is covering up for Trump and not being transparent. They give him a negative rating for how he handled the Mueller report. 44% say they don’t approve of what he has done with the Mueller report.”

Listen:

McDowell responded shortly thereafter by dropping the hammer.

“They’re trying to discredit him because they’re worried — people who worked in the Obama administration, in the FBI and in the CIA — they’re worried,” she argued.

“Whether it’s Brennan, or Comey or  even subordinates of both of them, they’re worried about what Bill Barr and John Dunham and the inspector general Michael Horowitz are going to find.”

“It’s not silliness, Juan, if there was corruption,” she continued, her voice rising in anger. “It’s not silliness if there was an abuse of power. And you know why Hillary Clinton is being quiet about this? Because the DNC and Hillary Clinton’s campaign paid for that dossier, which could be disinformation by Russia. … The whole Mueller report basically discredits big, big elements that were in that dossier.”

Her points were accurate. The infamous Steele dossier that was used as justification to spy on President Donald Trump’s campaign officials was paid for by Democrats, written by British spy Christopher Steele and allegedly based on intelligence gathered by him from his sources in Russia.

Then-House Oversight Committee chair Rep. Darrell Issa noted last year that if it turns out that Steele’s sources really were Russian operatives, it’d mean that Democrats are the ones guilty of collusion.

“Christopher Steele hasn’t been in Russia in 20 years, so even the people, the unknown people responsible for it could easily, easily have in fact been agents of the Russian government, which would mean that Hillary Clinton is the one guilty of the so-called ‘collusion,'” he said on Fox News.

Listen:

“Jim Comey looked at Bret Baier in the spring of last year and said, ‘I can’t definitely say I know that the Steele dossier was paid for by the DNC and the Clinton campaign,” McDowell continued Friday. “He was running the FBI. They got on a warrant on an American citizen to spy on him, and [Comey] didn’t know that? That is balderdash and hogwash. We all know it.”

She then addressed Williams’ alleged poll results.

“I also read that poll, Juan. Here’s what people said. A majority, 58%, think it’s at least somewhat likely the FBI broke the law when it started investigating the Trump campaign. The millions of Americans who don’t trust what went on in intelligence and the FBI under the Obama administration — they deserve answers, and there’s nothing wrong with a thorough look at it.”

Other polls have found the same. One by CNN published at the start of the month revealed that 70 percent of Americans support an investigation into the origins of the Russia collusion probe.

“They’ve had a thorough look,” Williams countered, through his claim was objectively false. “What we’re doing now is we’re trying to punish the investigators.”

“Mueller didn’t look at it!” McDowell tried to point out to her stubborn co-host. “I read the whole Mueller report. “He did not look at the predicate of that investigation.”

“You don’t need Mueller. Pick up a newspaper. It will tell you how it started,” Williams then said.

“The press that lied to us for 3 years!?'” McDowell replied in exasperation. “LIARS!”

Watch her full rebuttal below:

Over the course of the Russia probe, the media repeatedly shared fake, contrived “news” and conspiracy theories accusing the president and his family of this, that and the other.

Yet following the conclusion of Mueller’s investigation, the media refused to hold instead themselves accountable and instead began trotting out new and more fanciful theories about how the president and Attorney General Barr are colluding to obstruct justice.

Glenn Greenwald, a far-left liberal who’s never seen eye-to-eye with the mainstream media, wasn’t surprised by their behavior.

“Those responsible for this can refuse to acknowledge wrongdoing. They can even claim vindication if they want and will likely be cheered for doing so,” he opined after a redacted version of Mueller’s report was published last month.

“But the contempt in which the media and political class is held by so much of the U.S. population – undoubtedly a leading factor that led to Trump’s election in the first place – will only continue to grow as a result, and deservedly so. People know they were scammed, that their politics was drowned for years by a hoax.

But god forbid anyone investigate this hoax, because that’s just “silliness,” according to Juan Williams. That being said, conservatives appreciated McDowell’s attempt to try to educate her fellow FNC correspondent with some truth:
