Anyone who thought the end of the Mueller witch hunt and the release of his report would at least tone down some of the criminal insanity out there in the media and in Congress … sorry, it’s not happening. Tribal divisions are as wide as ever, with politicians up in arms and a reporter boycott of Attorney General William Barr’s news conference this morning is being called for by fuming provocateurs in the press.
Anger expressed by Dem. Rep. Jerry Nadler and other progressive politicos last night led to a few loyal media flunkies calling for a boycott of AG Barr’s press conference this morning preceding the midday release of the redacted report.
I’m deeply troubled by reports that the WH is being briefed on the Mueller report AHEAD of its release. Now, DOJ is informing us we will not receive the report until around 11/12 tomorrow afternoon — AFTER Barr’s press conference. This is wrong. #ReleaseTheReport https://t.co/bR50HhGJ0i

A #BoycottBarr hashtag on Twitter hotly trended with many applauding the idea after MSNBC analyst David Corn floated it …
Should reporters not attend a press conference about a report before they can read it?
(Not calling for a boycott. But it’s an interesting thought exercise.)

Late yesterday, the Justice Department announced that Barr, along with Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, will be holding a news conference and responding to questions Thursday morning at 9:30 am.
Of course, critics were immediately pounding their fists. Rep. Hakeen Jeffries tweeted that the AG should “keep your mouth shut.”
So-called Attorney General is presiding over a dog and pony show.
Here is a thought.
Release the Mueller report tomorrow morning and keep your mouth shut.
You have ZERO credibility.https://t.co/fKFeexUKkX

As far as why he referred to him as “so-called Attorney General”? Who knows. He was confirmed by the Senate.
CNN contributor Joe Lockhart, called the presser a “defensive move.” He tweeted, “Simply put, Barr is Trump’s press guy tomorrow trying to protect him. It’s really outrageous.”
He followed up …
Barr’s news conference tomorrow will be the kickoff of @realDonaldTrump press strategy of making the story about the investigators not the results of the investigation. Beyond inappropriate. It’s disgraceful.
— Joe Lockhart (@joelockhart) April 17, 2019
Lockhart was responding to MSNBC justice analyst Matthew Miller who tweeted …
I can’t think of any reason Barr needs to hold a press conference to discuss a report Mueller wrote. He needs to get out of the way. https://t.co/gJbazzL8sO

Rep. David Cicilline, who sits on the House Judiciary Committee, accused Barr of trying to “frame the Special Counsel’s findings. Just release the full report.”
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi criticized Barr’s credibility …
AG Barr has thrown out his credibility & the DOJ’s independence with his single-minded effort to protect @realDonaldTrump above all else. The American people deserve the truth, not a sanitized version of the Mueller Report approved by the Trump Admin. https://t.co/fgXwiLuQfr
— Nancy Pelosi (@SpeakerPelosi) April 17, 2019
Deciding to formalize their self-righteous anger, four Democrat House chairs issued a statement …
From the right, most were correctly just waiting for the report to come out. But Rep. Doug Collins, the leading GOP lawmaker on the Judiciary Committee had this to say about Nadler …
The only person trying to spin the report is @RepJerryNadler. The AG has done nothing unilaterally. After partnering with DAG Rosenstein to share principal conclusions, Barr is releasing the report voluntarily, working with Mueller’s team step by step.

According to Politico, “A Senate aide confirmed that lawmakers didn’t expect to receive Mueller’s report until 11 a.m. on Thursday — after Barr and Rosenstein’s news conference.” The media didn’t take well to being snubbed.
The Federalist’s Sean Davis and Mollie Hemingway were on the warpath to push back against liberal media elites trying to spin the report’s release:

Friendly reminder that news consumers should remember the names of the people and outlets who got the Russia story not just wrong, but dangerously wrong. Remember who perpetrated the conspiracy theories, who served as compliant leak receptacles, who wrote false stories. https://t.co/4IozJR4UAf

The last people on earth I want to hear interpret the Mueller report are the political media who got *everything wrong* about the very damaging Russia collusion story. I don't want to hear a word. A word.
