In a series of tweets, President Donald Trump followed up on recent remarks about closing the southern border, saying that unless Mexico immediately stops the never-ending flow of illegal immigration into the United States, he will shut the border next week, or at least, large sections of it.
The threat coming as Border Patrol is being overwhelmed by thousands of illegal immigrants, many of them women and children from Central America.
Noting that the U.S. has the “weakest immigration laws anywhere in the world,” which he attributed to the Democratic Party, Trump said Mexico has the “strongest” of laws.
He called on Congress to act — which is unlikely, given that they have been failing the country for several decades now on the issue.
The DEMOCRATS have given us the weakest immigration laws anywhere in the World. Mexico has the strongest, & they make more than $100 Billion a year on the U.S. Therefore, CONGRESS MUST CHANGE OUR WEAK IMMIGRATION LAWS NOW, & Mexico must stop illegals from entering the U.S….

“If Mexico doesn’t immediately stop ALL illegal immigration coming into the United States through our Southern Border, I will be CLOSING… the Border, or large sections of the Border, next week,” he added, after pointing out that Mexico “has been making a fortune off of the U.S.”
….through their country and our Southern Border. Mexico has for many years made a fortune off of the U.S., far greater than Border Costs. If Mexico doesn’t immediately stop ALL illegal immigration coming into the United States throug our Southern Border, I will be CLOSING…..

….the Border, or large sections of the Border, next week. This would be so easy for Mexico to do, but they just take our money and “talk.” Besides, we lose so much money with them, especially when you add in drug trafficking etc.), that the Border closing would be a good thing!

While speaking at a rally Thursday night in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the president said there are another two caravans on the way to the southern border.
“Mexico could stop them so easy, and you know what, if they don’t it’s going to cost them a helluva lot of money, to be honest,” Trump said.”They could do it so easy. So easy. And if they don’t, I’m telling you right now, we will close the damn border.”

The crowd’s thunderous applause said all that needed to be said about how they felt about the threat.
“Fox & Friends” characterized an approaching caravan from Central America as the “mother of all caravans” in a chyron Friday morning, which was an actual quote from Mexico’s Interior Secretary Olga Sánchez Cordero.
“Sounds like it could be 20,000 in all,” co-host Steve Doocy noted. “People coming from El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala. One activist though said the reports calling this the mother of all caravans is false.”

President Trump tweeted on Thursday morning that he was considering closing the southern border.
“Mexico is doing NOTHING to help stop the flow of illegal immigrants to our Country. They are all talk and no action. Likewise, Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador have taken our money for years, and do Nothing. The Dems don’t care, such BAD laws. May close the Southern Border!” he tweeted then.

Mexico President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador responded to Trump’s concerns on Thursday.
“We respect President Trump’s position, and we are going to help,” the new leftist leader told reporters on Thursday, though he stipulated that “this is a problem of the United States, or it’s a problem of the Central American countries. It’s not up to us Mexicans, no.”
