‘This is still America, right?’ New app to help conservatives find ‘safe’ restaurants and businesses

This is still America, right?

An app has been created to help conservatives find eateries and establishments where they would be “safe” from being attacked for their political beliefs, Fox News reported.

The app’s founder, Scott Wallace, appeared Monday on “Fox and Friends” to speak on the need for the service.

“We feel like there’s a general unease among conservatives out there, about whether they’ll be protected and safe as they go out to restaurants and local businesses,” said Wallace.

The new app is called “63red Safe” and asks users to rate restaurants based on four criteria.

“It’s just four quick questions, yes or no questions,” Wallace explained. “Number one: Does this location serve all customers regardless of political beliefs? Will they protect their customers if they’re under attack by others in the restaurant? There’s a concealed carry question, and [if] the location [has] a political presence in their social media.”

As the questions reflect, the app, which some are calling “Yelp for conservatives,” was not designed to “find restaurants that are conservative, or pro-Trump,” Wallace said.

Instead, it is intended to “get politics out of local businesses, local restaurants, and make everyone feel comfortable when they go out.”

We wanted to make sure that people could let others know what restaurants may have a political bent,” he told the “Fox & Friends” morning crew.

“We want businesses to understand there’s no money in politics,” Wallace added. “We want to make sure everyone’s safe out there.”

Conservatives being approached in public took on added emphasis in this country last summer when U.S.  Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., called on party supporters to publicly confront and harass members of the Trump administration.

“If you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd and you push back on them, and you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere,” she declared.

Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, Trump counselor Kellyanne Conway and White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders have been confronted while dining out. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, was also harassed while dining with his wife.

Waters is today the chairwoman of the House Financial Services Committee, believe it or not.

Wallace told the Daily Beast his app will get more popular as we get closer to the 2020 election, saying he’s concerned that Trump may be targeted by “socialist goon squads.”

“I think Antifa was nothing compared between now and what’s coming in 2020,” he said. “And I’m deeply concerned.”

The Daily Beast inaccurately called the app “Yelp for MAGA-friendly restaurants.”

One restaurant labeled as “unsafe” on the app is The Red Hen in Lexington, Virginia, which is the restaurant that asked Sanders and her family to leave last year.
