Walmart has long been the target of labor unions and their hard left minimum wage front groups, who realize that as Walmart goes, so goes the entire retail industry, but the retail giant is now drawing fire from the right.

The American Family Association is taking exception to a Walmart Facebook video that appears to celebrate and normalize gay relationships, LifeZette reported.

The pro-family group said in a statement that Walmart is alienating many Christians who strongly believe that marriage is between a man and a woman is a “sacred” idea.

“We’ve seen many large corporations reject that in their marketing, but I honestly never thought Walmart would join the cultural revolution and reject the beliefs of its customer base,” AFA President Tim Wildmon said, according to LifeZette.

Wildmon said on the group’s website that founder Sam Walton “is probably turning over in his grave.”

The Facebook ad, titled “Love is in the Aisle: A Dating Show at Walmart,” features two gay men, “Pat” and “Andy,” on a blind date shopping at a Walmart store.

“They’re going on a blind date at their local Walmart to see if love is in the aisle,” the narrator says in the video.

Is grocery shopping at Walmart first date-worthy? We thought it’d be a good idea. And these two definitely learned how much it could really reveal about a person…

“It’s clear that Walmart is on the path of elevating homosexual relationships to the same level as the male-female model of marriage,” Wildmon said in his statement.

The video length added to the disappointment for AFA Vice President Buddy Smith.

“We’re very disappointed in Walmart with this video that’s actually two-and-a-half minutes long; so it’s not just a few seconds of an ad that normalizes homosexual relationships,” Smith told OneNewsNow.

“It’s not only a promotion of homosexuality, but it’s really an attack on God’s design for marriage between a man and a woman,” Smith continued. “We believe it’s a very dangerous lifestyle; and the fact that Walmart would release this kind of video is even more in the face of Christian people who believe in God’s design for human sexuality.”

AFA is asking its nearly one million friends and supporters to sign a petition urging Walmart President Doug McMillon to remove the pro-gay video and disengage from the cultural war in America.

The petition says Walmart’s “full support for same sex relationships is something Sam Walton would never have approved of.

It concludes: “I urge you, Mr. McMillon, to return Walmart back to its founding principles by removing the pro-homosexual video and agreeing to remain neutral on the controversial issue of homosexuality.”
