As border battle rages, NYPD on high-alert over ‘serious’ MS-13 threats to target off-duty officers

Not that there’s a crisis or anything, the media will assure you, but amid the fight for border security, the New York Police Department is warning its police officers about a possible threat from MS-13 gang members.

More so when off-duty than when in uniform, according to CBS New York.

The affiliate reported on an NYPD bulletin that read: “Members of MS-13 are looking to ‘hit’ NYPD police officers, specifically in the Brentwood/Central Islip area as well as possibly Patchogue.”

According to the bulletin, the attacks will be carried out on off-duty officers “in order to gain street credibility.”

Officers are warned they may be targeted near their homes, and that gang members “are conducting reconnaissance of MOS private residences.”

The threat has not been substantiated, but former FBI agent Manny Gomez told CBS New York it cannot be taken lightly.

“Whenever a law enforcement officer is being threatened,” he said, “especially by an organization like MS-13 which we already know is uber-violent and has killed numerous people throughout the country if not throughout the world, this has to be taken serious.”

“They are going above and beyond what any other gang does,” he added. “And the scary part is that we already know that they legitimately carry out their threats and they are extremely violent.”

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement frequently goes after MS-13, with many of the gang members being in the U.S. illegally, yet in the face of an egregious threat against law enforcement, hard-left Democrats call for ICE to be abolished.

Democrats like Rep. Alexander Ocasio-Cortez from New York.

Even though ICE has been very active in her district, protecting her constituents, as noted by Ronna McDaniel, the chairwoman of the Republican National Committee.

McDaniel recently tweeted: “Last year, ICE removed a Nazi from Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s district. Her response: Abolish ICE. This week, MS-13 murdered someone in her district. Her response: Abolish ICE. AOC’s calls aren’t just endangering her community, they’re endangering the entire country.”

Even the New York City Council wants to abolish ICE, having passed a resolution last year calling on the federal government to shut down the agency.

So, perhaps, the NYPD may want to have a chat with elected officials in the city about actions that could result in MS-13 gang members being more comfortable to do thing like attacking its officers.
