Former Fox News Channel host Gretchen Carlson is not happy about actress Nicole Kidman portraying her in an upcoming movie about the late Roger Ailes.
Director Jay Roach’s as-yet untitled film, about the disgraced former founder, Chairman and CEO of Fox News who resigned in 2016 following several allegations of sexual harassment, features Kidman playing Carlson, the former Fox News host who filed a lawsuit against Ailes.
Other stars appearing in the film as Fox News characters are Charlize Theron as Megyn Kelly, Ashley Greene as Abby Huntsman, John Lithgow as Ailes, Margot Robbie, Kate McKinnon, Connie Britton as Roger’s wife Beth Ailes, and Allison Janney, according to People.

Despite the high-profile names in the film, which is expected to be released in 2019, Carlson slammed the casting and was especially not pleased with her character’s portrayal by Kidman.

“Hard to see your own story faked,” the current Chair of the Miss America Organization tweeted Monday, apparently knocking the choice to use the 51-year-old Oscar-winner to play her part.
This looks nothing like me & the script I’ve seen makes other people out to be heroes unjustifiably. Hard to see your own story faked. Unfortunately – Proves trumps claim of #FakeNews #Realstory https://t.co/QR9Fm3d6X7

She doubled down on her opinion as Twitter users responded to her criticism.
No I thought they’d get the story half right at very least
— Gretchen Carlson (@GretchenCarlson) December 11, 2018
Nope
— Gretchen Carlson (@GretchenCarlson) December 11, 2018
Nah I’ve seen the script

Carlson had responded to reports about the movie and Kidman’s role earlier this year, saying she hoped “the true story is depicted.”
As the first person to take the risk – it also means I can’t share all of the details of what really happened, so I hope the true story is depicted. The most important thing is that so many more women are now believed and have been given a voice. #BeFierce #StopSexualHarassment https://t.co/S2ZyjruC66

She also told People magazine in an earlier interview that she would have to wear “really, really, really high heels” if she stepped out on to the red carpet with Kidman, who is much taller.
While the 52-year-old former “Fox & Friends” host got some sympathetic reactions on Twitter, many others were not as supportive of her criticism.
Hate to break it to you, but Hollywood biopics never pretend to be journalistic endeavors. ????

Wow, you should be super flattered that @NicoleKidman is playing you… she’s beautiful on the inside where you spread ugliness through fear and hate.
— Erin Rose Taylor? (@erinrosetaylor1) December 11, 2018
It’s… a movie??
— NeeWokubot (@Neewok) December 11, 2018
Not news Gretchen. Hollywood.
— Gofredo (@now_what__) December 11, 2018
Is it important to you that they find a doppelgänger to tell your story?
— Kristopher (@thieveshours) December 11, 2018
Why are you using those hashtags? This is a movie, not news. It is not an autobiography. If you want that produce it yourself. To top it off you give Trump credit for his fake news claims. Stop the pity party.

OMG! I can’t believe Hollywood took creative license for a movie to make the story watchable! *rolls eyes*
PS: You should be grateful such an attractive and talented woman was chosen to portray you. Personally, I was pulling for Stormy Daniels to get the job.— Winston Smith ?️? (@Ikea_Monkey_89) December 11, 2018
I get some level of frustration that you think your story isn’t being told accurately, but she does kinda look like you, and frankly if I ever reached a place in my life where Nicole Kidman were playing me I’d pat myself on the back, pour a glass of wine, and chill.
