Here’s what it looks like when Alan Dershowitz and Kathy Griffin get in a spat on Twitter

A brief feud Tuesday between far-left comedian Kathy Griffin and liberal attorney Alan Dershowitz turned extremely sour, with the two trading some of the fiercest barbs seen on Twitter in months.

It started when Griffin tweeted an op-ed from The Wall Street Journal written by Dershowitz on Monday that argued President Donald Trump should be allowed to file a rebuttal report after special counsel Robert Mueller releases his report into alleged Russian collusion.

“Trump can respond from prison @AlanDersh,” the comedian, a virulently anti-Trump zealot whose entire existence seems to revolve around the president, tweeted angrily early Tuesday morning. “Hopefully you’ll be there with him after you’re convicted for statutory rape.”

The latter statement was in reference to an unproven accusation that, while working as billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein’s attorney, Dershowitz engaged in sexual relations with one of the minors whom his client had been sex trafficking.

The attorney angrily replied to the smear by accusing Griffin of being a bigot.

“For bigots like you even innocence is not a defense. See attached letter,” he tweeted in reply, linking to a column he wrote over the weekend that reportedly debunks the accusation against him.

The comedian responded in shock, in part because it’s rare for liberals to be treated to the same sort of “you’re a bigot, you’re a racist” rhetoric they routinely lodge against others.

“Bigot? You’re calling me a big (SIC)?” she replied with incredulity, adding that his defense of Epstein was essentially a reflection of his own allegedly skewed values.

Dershowitz promptly retorted by doubling down on the bigot accusation and explaining how his criminal defense of Epstein isn’t a reflection of his own personal values.

“You’re not only a bigot. You have no understanding of the constitutional right to counsel. I didn’t represent Epstein in his settlement, only in his criminal case. I’m proud to have done so & will continue to represent even the most despised accused, as the constitution mandates,” he wrote.

This seemingly sensible reply triggered Griffin into experiencing what appeared to be a full meltdown. In her first reply, she referenced recruiting a Danish/British murderer to visit the attorney.

Bülow was convicted in 1979 of trying to murder his wife, Sunny von Bülow. While it’s unclear what exactly Griffin meant by her tweet, it bore resemblance to a death threat, as noted by her critics.

Last year the Secret Service interviewed the comedian after she posted a threatening video that depicted her holding a mock severed head of the president.

In her final tweet at Dershowitz this Tuesday, a still-shocked Griffin begged to know why he thinks she — a liberal who perceives herself as a champion of the allegedly oppressed — is a bigot.

No additional barbs have been traded between the two since then. Griffin has however repeatedly posted tweets about Dershowitz, which suggests she may now be as obsessed with him as she’s been with the president.

She did take a brief break from obsessing over Dershowitz late Tuesday evening to throw shade at another Harvard Law professor who had dared to highlight the health risks of eating too many fries.

Classy, as ever.
