UPS driver’s heart-stopping leaf pile photo goes viral for what was buried in it and it can’t be shared enough

Kids, dogs and piles of leaves are inseparable, but like everything, there’s a time and place for such things.

Jordan Weaver, an Elkhart, Illinois, UPS driver was shocked when he spotted a small child hiding in a pile of leave on the roadside.

“I couldn’t believe it at first — my heart completely stopped,” Weaver told South Bend news station WSBT-TV.

Given that the leaves spilled onto the roadway, making it difficult to determine where the street ended and the side of the road began, the danger was off the charts.

And hoping to raise awareness about the safety issue, Weaver snapped a photo of the boy.

“Luckily, I parked across the street from the stop, so I didn’t see the child until after I made the delivery,” the driver explained. “I immediately grabbed my phone and went and asked the mother if I could take a picture.”

Weaver said as a UPS driver, he sees potentially dangerous situations like this all the time.

“Countless times a day,” he told WSBT-TV. “Distracted driving is the main one. You see so many people on their phones not paying attention to the roads around them, especially in neighborhoods like this.”

The photo he took has gone viral and hopefully it will serve its purpose and prevent a tragedy from occurring.

…because, as we said, kids, dogs and leaves are inseparable.

Here’s proof of that assessment from social media users eager to share fun times.
