In a stunning move that represented a first for CNN, former Republican presidential candidate turned political commentator Rick Santorum slammed one of the network’s top so-called “journalists” Thursday for rushing to demonize opponents of illegal immigration as racist.
Apparently fed-up with the media’s constant race-baiting, Santorum made the remark while speaking with host Kate Bolduan about a political ad shared by President Donald Trump earlier this week.
The ad depicted convicted cop killer Luis Bracamontes, an illegal immigrant, and juxtaposed him with the incoming caravan of migrants, illegal immigrants, gang members and criminals.
Acording to Bolduan and many of her allies in the leftist media, the ad is racist: “That campaign video that the president put out is something we haven’t seen in decades, in the tone, the tenor, just the racist overtones of it all. Are you supportive of that?” she said to Santorum.
Listen to the full conversation and Santorum’s exasperated reply below:
“Quit doing this, Kate!” he fired back. “This happens on this network just way too much — that anybody that disagrees on a public policy issue is a racist! And you can be against illegal border crossings, and protecting our border, and not be a racist.”
“Come on … you and I have known each other long time, don’t paint me with broad brush strokes like that,” she replied, seemingly oblivious to the irony of her statement.
The guests, hosts, pundits and so-called “journalists” on CNN frequently use a “broad brush” to smear the president, Republicans in Congress, and everyday conservative Americans as racists.
“I’m not calling Republicans racist. That’s not what I’m saying at all,” Bolduan added, completely ignoring what she’d clearly implied, which was that Trump’s ad is racist and that the GOP’s concerns about the veritable army of migrants headed toward the U.S. southern border are racist.
In fact, CNN ran an “analysis” piece earlier in the day whose headline read as follows: “Trump shocks with racist new ad days before midterms.”
“The Trump campaign ad is the latest example of the President’s willingness to lie and fear-monger in order to tear at racial and societal divides; to embrace demagoguery to bolster his own political power and the cause of the Republican midterm campaign,” reporter Stephen Collinson opined in a piece falsely labeled as non-biased journalism.
Social media’s response to this smear was brutal:
Trump shocks with racist new ad days before midtermshttps://t.co/Dduh0Y0hcJ this is why CNN is considered fake news no sane person would call this a racist add just because you disagree with the policy doesn’t make your racist

Let this sink in: @CNN says an ad is ‘Racist’ because it reveals, correctly, that an Illegal Alien, many times deported, killed two law enforcement officials. That’s no longer just #FakeNews, it’s #LiberalPropaganda, pure and undiluted. #LiberalismIsAMentalDisease https://t.co/JXHOxQXfOe

As noted by the latter Twitter user, it’s true that CNN has ignored patently racist remarks made by failed Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Clinton earlier this week.
To see Trump’s ad and decide for yourself whether it’s racist, look below:
