Outgoing Senator Ben Sasse is desperate to sell his new book, so he cleverly antagonized Fox News host Sean Hannity, who has the No. 1 show on cable news.
Hannity and Sasse — a Never-Trump Republican — were once on good terms, but their relationship soured in recent years after Sasse repeatedly trashed President Trump and Hannity himself.
Sasse dialed up his PR ploy by challenging Hannity to a debate. Hannity accepted — saying he would gladly debate Sasse AFTER his book flops. Savvy Sean knows that debating Sasse now would only help his book sales. Ha!
I invite you to come out from behind the safety of your cable news desk and join me at a neutral forum to debate the role of the media—Left and Right—in dividing us.
Honest conversation isn’t where the quick-hit $ and ratings are — but it’d be good for America. https://t.co/ho8IMTZ80j

Ben Sasse devoted a 20-page section in his book to trashing Hannity. Notably, Sasse accused Hannity of not being a true conservative and of using “outrage” to rally his viewers. Um, if conservatives aren’t outraged by the violent Left’s sleazy mob bullying tactics, they’re not true conservatives.
Besides, manufacturing leftist outrage is what CNN, MSNBC, the New York Times, the Washington Post, and the rest of the mainstream media do 24 hours a day.
“[Hannity’s shows are] not to promote a particular conservative agenda, or to encourage American patriotism, or even to offer coherent arguments against liberalism,” Sasse wrote. “His core cause is to rage.”
Hannity responded by calling Ben Sasse “a con artist and a phony” who failed to represent his conservative base in Nebraska.
Sasse only got national TV exposure during the past two years because liberal networks CNN and MSNBC were desperate to spotlight any Republicans who hate Trump — because it promotes their anti-Trump agenda.
Hannity pointed out that if Never-Trumper Sasse got his way, Hillary Clinton would now be president. Ouch.
“After your book fails, I will gladly debate you about how the success of the last 2 years never would have happened with your ‘Never Trumper’ positions. All progress frankly in spite of u,” Hannity tweeted.
Meanwhile, on his show, Hannity reminded viewers to make sure they vote because the November 6 midterm is the most consequential election of our lifetime.
“The Resistance Movement started the day Donald Trump was elected president of the United States,” former Congressman Jason Chaffetz said. “They were stunned! They didn’t know what to do. Now the president has been highly successful, the economy is doing well, and the world is a safer place. All these good things are happening.”
Chaffetz added: “The only playbook they have is scorched Earth, the politics of personal destruction, the Resistance movement. Because they have no ideas. They have no policy to run on. [Republicans] have got to get out and vote. That’s got to happen across the country…I’ve never seen it this bad.”
