Fox News contributor Tammy Bruce unloaded on the “character assassination” of US Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh amid allegations of sexual misconduct from nearly four decades ago.
“This is not a search for the truth, it is not a desire for justice. This is a political assassination of Judge Kavanaugh,” Bruce said on Fox News’ “Hannity” on Tuesday.
As Democrats come out to support Christine Blasey Ford, the liberal California professor who has accused Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her 36 years ago, Bruce argued that it comes at a cost.
“This is what’s awful for all of us, frankly, who have worked to have women be taken seriously on issues of violence against women, domestic violence, rape and harassment, is that we have demanded, said and asserted that women can be taken seriously. They should be, and yet now we don’t know what happened 36 years ago,” Bruce said.
“But we do know what happened in July,” she continued, referring to when Ford delivered her allegations in a letter to Sen, Dianne Feinstein.
“From that point forward, this has been a politicized framework. This woman’s experience has been packaged as a weapon and this is what we’ve promised the American people as feminists, that would not happen,” she told host Sean Hannity.
“We are not asking for the accused to have no rights, to be removed from the process — due process and from the rule of law, and yet now that is what every American is hearing. It’s an insult to every woman that is sexually assaulted. For those of us who have had experiences like that, it is a remarkable dismissal of our life experience and what we have demanded from the system. I’ll just tell you, it’s offensive,” Bruce said angrily.
“It’s good over 36 years that she’s been in therapy and made choices that were best for her. I’m not going to judge those choices. But right now, she has come forward and should be heard, it should be under oath,” Bruce added.
Ford’s attorney told CNN that her client wanted to testify before Congress about the allegations she has made but now Ford is demanding a full FBI investigation before she makes any appearances before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

American Conservative Union Chairman, Matt Schlapp, told Hannity that it is simply politics that is driving the attacks on Kavanaugh, especially in light of Ford’s apparent delay tactics.
“She had the right to participate in a very fair process with a lot of Democratic senators who would have helped her,” he said.
“She chose not to participate in that process because she wants to delay this vote to stop this nomination,” Schlapp added. “Republicans better hold the line.”
