Watch grateful ‘Last Man Standing’ stars thank fans personally for bringing show back after lib axe

Tim Allen thanked loyal fans for all they did to get “Last Man Standing” back on the air, calling the fanbase “startling.”

In a new video promoting the relaunch of the sitcom, now on Fox, Allen and co-star Nancy Travis remarked on the campaign by fans to bring back the successful series after ABC dropped it last year.

“I would say the fanbase, without any jokes, was startling,” Allen said in the video which featured footage from the first taping of the season as he and the cast acknowledged fans for their support.

The show’s fans were “very vocal and very active in trying to get the show brought back,” Travis, who plays wife Vanessa Baxter to Allen’s character, Mike Baxter, said.

Those loyal fans included Chad Miller who led the largest Facebook group campaigning for the return of “Last Man Standing,” rallying support and getting petitions signed until Fox stepped in and picked up the series.

“When the show was originally canceled, I was angry,” Miller said. “I felt like I needed to get my voice out there.”

Allen personally thanked Miller in the video and gave the super-fan a shout-out at the show’s taping, getting resounding applause from the audience.

“We feel like this is the fans’ victory really, that we get to come back, and so, we thank you,” Travis said in the video.

Averaging 8.3 million viewers in its sixth and final season on ABC, “Last Man Standing” was ditched for what many felt was political reasons as Allen’s character was decidedly conservative and known to take jabs at the left in the show’s segments.

Allen recently spoke about it being “a very icy time” for comedians in light of the firestorm when ABC fired Roseanne Barr over a controversial tweet.

“There are things you can’t say,” Allen said last month, defending Barr. “There are things you shouldn’t say. Who makes up these rules? And as a stand-up comic, it’s a dangerous position to be in because I like pushing buttons. It’s unfortunate.”

“Last Man Standing” will return for its seventh season on September 28 on Fox.

Fans of the show appreciated the latest promotional video and Allen’s words of thanks.
