Omarosa Manigault-Newman released a new secret recording Thursday in her quest to keep interest high to sell her “fictitious” book, but the new tape is every bit the dud as her other alleged bombshell tapes have been.
The fired White House aide looks to have had a habit of recording conversations with members of the Trump administration, without their consent, who made the mistake of trusting her, people like the president’s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, the subject of Thursday’s dump. Not that Mrs. Trump didn’t fire back with a brutal rebuttal.
In the heavily edited tape, Trump is heard discussing a salary and job expectations with Omarosa –who was jettisoned from her White House gig — in pursuit of a deal to have her come aboard the president’s campaign team — Omarosa chose to interpret an effort to provide her with a soft landing as nefarious.
“I saw this as an attempt to buy my silence, to censor me and to pay me off $15,000 per month by the campaign,” Omarosa told MSNBC’s Craig Melvin.
“You saw this as hush money?” he asked.
“Absolutely,” Omarosa answered.
Mrs. Trump, who’s married to President Trump’s second son, Eric Trump, released a statement referring to Omarosa as “a friend and a campaign sister,” telling her directly that she hopes her violation of trust in exchange for selling a few books is worth it.
“I am absolutely shocked and saddened by her betrayal and violation on a deeply personal level,” she said in the statement. “I hope it’s all worth it for you, Omarosa, because some things you just can’t put a price on.”

Former White House press secretary Sean Spicer appeared Thursday on Fox News to say Omarosa’s assertions are little more than “false and defamatory” statements.
“Both are categorically false,” Spicer said of the pay off claim and the comment about the nondisclosure agreement.
“My wife would love to know where this hush money is,” he continued. “I’d love to know where it is. [Omarosa] is getting away with not only continuing to contradict herself, but to make false and defamatory statements.”
Spicer noted Omarosa’s long history with Trump — she worked for him for 15 years — and the fact that she was still saying positive things about him after leaving the White House.
“What changed? Clearly within weeks she had been offered money to write a book,” he said.
