NYT publisher gripes to Trump for putting journos in ‘potential’ danger, conveniently ignores attacks on Trump supporters

President Donald Trump posted a tweet Sunday acknowledging a meeting with New York Times publisher A.G. Sulzberger, which prompted Sulzberger to explain that he accepted the invitation for a July 20 meeting to raise concerns about the president’s “deeply troubling anti-press rhetoric.”

The Times publisher said he told Trump his “inflammatory language” directed at the media “will lead to violence,” but Sulzberger’s concerns ring hollow to Ann Coulter.

“Had a very good and interesting meeting at the White House with  Publisher of the New York Times. Spent much time talking about the vast amounts of Fake News being put out by the media & how that Fake News has morphed into phrase, “Enemy of the People.” Sad!” the president tweeted.

A short two hours later, Sulzberger answered with a five-paragraph statement.

“I told the president directly that I thought that his language was not just divisive but increasingly dangerous,” Sulzberger said in the statement.

“I told him that although the phrase ‘fake news’ is untrue and harmful, I am far more concerned about his labeling journalists ‘the enemy of the people,’” he continued. “I warned that this inflammatory language is contributing to a rise in threats against journalists and will lead to violence.”

The fact that the term “fake news” was mentioned is proof positive just how effective it has been for Trump.

Either way, Coulter is not crying tears for The Times.

“NYT publisher complains to @realDonaldTrump about POTENTIAL violence agst journalists. NYT not interested in ACTUAL violence against Trump supporters,” she tweeted.

As for actual cases of violence, Brietbart News cited 538 examples in what the pro-Trump site called “open season on Trump supporters.”

While far from scientific and including numerous examples of non-violent behavior, the exhaustive list does accurately detail cases of real violence that garnered little, if any sympathy from the media.

The most recent example of Trump supporters being attacked occurred just last week in Hollywood when recording artist Joy Villa, who wore a “Make America Great Again” dress at the 2017 Grammys, showed up at Trump’s Hollywood star.

One thing is certain, Coulter had plenty of supporters on social media. Here’s a sampling of responses from Twitter:
