Jimmy Kimmel gave Kim Kardashian West every opportunity to bash President Donald Trump but she would not take the bait.
The reality TV star and wife of Kanye West spoke to the late night television host about her visit to the Oval Office in May when she convinced Trump to commute the prison sentence of nonviolent drug offender, Alice Johnson.
“I’m hopeful that more good things are going to come out of our conversations,” she said on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” revealing that she receives a “stack of letters” every day and recently visited a women’s detention center.
“Do you have a list now of people you might ask him to release from prison?” Kimmel asked.
“I do,” she said.
“Is Melania on it?” Kimmel asked, attempting to get the 37-year-old mega-star to join the Trump-bashing.
Kardashian admitted she was “starstruck” with her White House visit.
“I walk in and I’m like- I look around and I’m kind of starstruck by the Oval Office and the first thing I say in our meeting, I say, ‘Holy sh*t. We’re in the f**king Oval Office,’” Kardashian told Jimmy Kimmel. “That’s what I said to him. That was the first thing I said. And I had to take a moment to be like, ‘Wait, we’re really here.”
She revealed she received the phone call from Trump announcing his decision on Johnson’s sentence while she was doing a photo shoot naked.
“My phone rings and I’m all glammed up and I’m like, ‘Get me a robe!’” Kardashian said.
“Did the president know you were just in a robe and nothing else,” Kimmel asked. “Because he probably would have released the whole prison if you told him that.”
Kimmel asked if Kardashian’s husband is still a fan of Trump’s, having thrust himself into the spotlight when he tweeted pro-Trump messages and enraged liberals everywhere. After she said he did still like the president, Kimmel pressed her about whether their political views lead the couple to argue.
“No, because I always respect what the other person thinks,” she explained, adding that her husband may not “necessarily agree with the policies,” but he likes Trump’s personality and how he became president when “everybody underestimated him.”
After seven minutes in the hot seat, Kardashian would not play the game with Kimmel to denounce Trump or mock him in some way.
