While protests raged in London’s streets, President Trump remained undeterred in his mission to represent the United States and boldly share his views on Europe’s immigration policies.
Liberals are gleeful over the thousands protesting Trump’s three-day visit to the United Kingdom, pointing to profanity-laced chants and signs – as well as a giant “Trump baby” balloon flying overhead – as sure signs of how much the U.S. president is disliked.
But the images don’t tell the whole story and Trump is clearly not cowering under the ugly chants of the throngs, not wavering in his view that immigration is “changing the culture” of Europe.
In a joint press conference with British Prime Minister Theresa May on Friday, the president did not back down in talking about Europe’s immigration policy.
“I think it’s a very negative thing for Europe,” he said, citing as an example the current state in Germany where he said the open-door to refugees has really “hurt” the country.
“I know it’s politically not necessarily correct to say that, but I’ll say it, and I’ll say it loud,” Trump declared. “And I think they’d better watch themselves because you are changing culture.”
The president had previously stated in an interview that Europe is “losing its culture” due to the influx of refugees and asylum seekers.
“I think you are losing your culture. Look around. You go through certain areas that didn’t exist 10 or 15 years ago,” Trump told the Sun in an interview published Thursday.
“Allowing the immigration to take place in Europe is a shame,” he said. “I think it changed the fabric of Europe and, unless you act very quickly, it’s never going to be what it was and I don’t mean that in a positive way.”
“So I think allowing millions and millions of people to come into Europe is very, very sad,” he added.
Trump spoke at the press conference held at May’s residence in Chequers shortly after his arrival in the UK, as thousands thronged the streets of London in sometimes violent protests.

In some instances, pro-Trump supporters clashed with the protesters, demonstrators in red “Handmaid’s Tale” gowns and others marched in the heat as seen in images shared online.

Former UK Independence Party leader Nigel Farage blasted the “shameful” blimp display saying it was going too far.
— FOX & friends (@foxandfriends) July 13, 2018
“This is ridiculous,” Farage said of the protests over Trump’s visit, speaking with “Fox & Friends” on Friday. Farage has been very vocal in his condemnation of London Mayor Sadiq Khan for allowing the balloon to be flown over Parliament during Trump’s visit.
Farage is outraged that there were “hardly any protests at all” when the crown prince of Arabia, Romanian Communist dictator, Nicolae Ceaușescu and even the Chinese premiere were given state visits.
“What is going on here is the liberal left press demonized Trump every single day and unfortunately, quite a few people believed that,” Farage told the Fox News hosts.
Protest is fine in a democracy, but to be flying this blimp, this kite of Donald Trump, outside of Parliament – how Sadiq Khan could have allowed that I will never know!” he said. “whatever anybody thinks of President Trump, America is our closest and most important ally in the world.”
“Frankly, I’m ashamed of that today,” Farage declared
