Sarah Sanders couldn’t resist. She totally spiked the football over Gina Haspel confirmation

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders took to social media on Monday to spike the football over the confirmation of CIA director Gina Haspel, ridiculing Democratic lawmakers who opposed her nomination.

“Historic day for our country: swearing-in ceremony for Gina Haspel, the first woman ever to serve as CIA director,” Sanders wrote. “Democrats are losing their war against women in the Trump administration.”

Haspel, the first woman to lead the agency, was confirmed Friday by a vote of 54 to 45, but not without stiff resistance from Democrats concerned about her role in the enhanced interrogation program under President George W. Bush.

Sanders tweet rubbing Haspel’s confirmation in the face of “hypocrite” Democrats was consistent with the tone President Trump displayed Monday during swearing-in ceremonies.

“It took courage for her to say yes in the face of a lot of very negative politics and what was supposed to be a negative vote,” Trump said. “But I’ll tell you, when you testified before the committee, it was over.”

The president said Monday “no one in this country is better qualified” for the role than Haspel.

And while Sanders’ Twitter feed is a mine field of left-wing hate, there was plenty of support for calling Democrats out for their hypocrisy.

Here’s a sampling of the responses from Twitter:
