Cleanup of one of California’s homeless camps reveals a list that’s as gross as it gets

The impact of California’s homeless problem now has some stomach-churning numbers attached to it.

Cleanup efforts from an Orange County, Calif. homeless encampment that was dismantled last month unearthed huge amounts of waste at the site–garbage, needles, and human excrement, The Orange County Register reports.

According to the Register, the Orange County Board of Supervisors-led cleanup found:

  • 404 tons of trash
  • 13,950 needles hypodermic needles
  • 5,279 of hazardous human waste

Over 700 homeless were encamped along the Santa Ana River in Anaheim when dismantling began. Many of the people living in the camp were given motel vouchers while county officials determine their eligibility for government housing and assistance, Fox 11 reported.

A video posted by the county showed a vast difference in the area before and after the colony of homeless were removed.

California has been plagued by a drop in the quality of life state-wide. The California Department of Public Health has declared an ongoing hepatitis A outbreak–the result of a “fecally contaminated environment”caused by rampant homelessness.

A study from earlier this month rated California as offering residents the lowest quality of life of any state.

The situation has led many residents to flee. San Francisco, which has expensive housing and the highest property crime rate per capita in the US, is seeing more people leave than ever.

The lesson? If you want to bring a great state to ruin, vote Democrat.
