Condoleezza Rice took a blunt and direct jab at Rep. Adam Schiff, telling him it’s time to “wrap it up” on the Russia investigation.
The former national security adviser and secretary of state looked the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee in the eyes during Thursday’s episode of “The View” and told him it’s time to move on in the panel’s probe of alleged Russian interference in the 2016 election.
“I know you’ve got a really hard job and I appreciate what you’re doing for the country, but I really hope you can wrap it up,” Rice told Schiff, drawing applause from the audience.
“The country needs to get back to business,” she added. “So that’s my greatest hope. This gets done.”
The investigation, headed by special counsel Robert Mueller, does not appear to be near to wrapping up as indictments and guilty pleas have emerged from former staffers of President Trump. No evidence, however, has surfaced to confirm Trump colluded with the Kremlin to secure the election.
During his remarks on the ABC daytime talk show, Schiff discussed the breakdown of bipartisan relations in the panel as both Democrats and Republicans publicly feud over the investigation.
Rice, who served under former President George W. Bush, added a word about Mueller, for whom she said she has “enormous respect.”
“I just want to say on Robert Mueller – this is somebody I know. I worked with him. He was FBI director when I was national security adviser,” Rice said. “I have enormous respect for him and he is going to do this in a very fair way and so I just hope we can get it done.”
