Grumpy guy goes berserk, attacks comedian on stage after being called out in audience

An audience member at a South Carolina comedy club was in no mood for jokes.

Comedian Steve Brown is thanking God for his ability to “bob and weave” after an audience member viciously attacked him on stage.

First off let me start by saying Thanks for the calls and messages from friends, fans and my family. With that being said, let me say this. This unprovoked attacked that happened to me tonight is a reminder of why these comedy clubs should have well equipped PROFESSIONAL security to protect us entertainers who bring their club so much money. I thank God for looking out for me and giving my old ass the ability to Bob and weave because this could have ended in horrible way.

The vibe at the Comedy Club became more than a little tense when Brown said he noticed a man sitting in the front row who didn’t appear quite right. Brown claimed he asked the man if he was OK, and the exchange quickly escalated from there.

It didn’t take long for the grumpy man to prove that Brown was correct (and then some) as he rushed the stage, grabbing the mic stand, and began to swing it wildly at Brown.

Brown used social media and his Instagram account to describe the frightening incident. The comedian assured his fans that he was doing “great” but called for comedy clubs to be more accountable when it comes to providing professional security.

Video of the disturbing incident was posted to Facebook on Saturday and shows that Brown was left defenseless for many moments before others (presumably, club security) finally stepped in to intervene.

“I thank God for looking out for me and giving my old a** the ability to bob and weave because this could have ended in a horrible way,” Brown wrote on Instagram.

Brown took the disturbing incident in stride and says he is “on to the to next club.” But, he did share a picture of a gash he said he received from the mic stand.

Brown was certainly lucky to have gotten away with only a gash. Hopefully, he never has to encounter something like this again.
