President Trump’s war of words with North Korea’s Kim Jong Un just went old school.
The North Korean leader fired off that he had a nuclear launch button at his desk, and wasn’t afraid to use it. He told the world in a New Year’s Day speech that they would have to accept a nuclear North Korea as a reality.
But Trump responded to the threat from the “little Rocket Man” as only he could.
“North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un just stated that the ‘Nuclear Button is on his desk at all times,'” Trump tweeted on Tuesday. “Will someone from his depleted and food starved regime please inform him that I too have a Nuclear Button, but it is a much bigger & more powerful one than his, and my Button works!”

The showdown tweet was posted just before North Korea reopened its border hotline with South Korea for the first time in two years. South Korea confirmed that the two had a 20-minute discussion, according to NBC News.
The North Korean leader seemed to be extending an olive branch of sorts by offering to send a delegation to the Winter Olympics in South Korea in February, in an effort to discuss easing military tensions between the two countries.
The president speculated that the move may signal “good news” but “we will see!”
Sanctions and “other” pressures are beginning to have a big impact on North Korea. Soldiers are dangerously fleeing to South Korea. Rocket man now wants to talk to South Korea for first time. Perhaps that is good news, perhaps not – we will see!
