Liberal pundit Joan Walsh was hired by CNN as a contributor shortly after being fired by MSNBC.
Walsh, 59, breathlessly tweeted her CNN news Saturday night, and thanked her fans for making it happen.
“I am overwhelmed by the support I’ve received today from all of you,” she wrote. “And I’m thrilled to tell you I’ll be heading to @CNN in the new year. Thanks to everyone who made this happen. A Christmas miracle.”
Walsh was abruptly dumped by MSNBC after 12 years as a contributor. She confirmed the firing on Twitter. Shortly afterward, Walsh’s Twitter fans launched the hashtag #KeepJoanWalsh, which MSNBC ignored.
Some MSNBC stars, such as Chris Hayes and Joy Reid, slammed their own network Saturday for axing Walsh. “It’s incredibly short sighted to sideline voices like Joan’s, especially now,” Reid fumed on Twitter.
MSNBC announced Walsh’s firing in a terse statement Friday, writing: “Every year we review our paid contributors list across the ideological spectrum. Unfortunately we couldn’t renew Joan, but she and her distinct perspective will still be invited on our shows. Joan Walsh has been a key voice on MSNBC for years and she’s absolutely still welcome.”
Walsh, the author of “What’s the Matter With White People?,” was widely slammed in July 2017, when she trashed Ivanka Trump as being too pretty to represent women’s rights.

The self-proclaimed feminist claimed Ivanka cannot be a “true feminist” because she’s not a shrill, dried-up hag like she is.
While true “feminism” is about women being able to make their own choices — about their bodies, their careers, and their appearance — Walsh said Ivanka’s frilly dress sent a “frightening” message.
“I don’t mean to sound sexist,” Walsh told MSNBC host Thomas Roberts. “It can be dangerous to comment on what women wear, but the fact that she sat in for her father in a dress that was so incredibly ornamental was such a contradiction in terms.”
Walsh said there was something deeply disturbing about Ivanka Trump, a fashion designer, wearing a “girly” dress. Ironically, Joan made the remarks while wearing makeup, jewelry, and sporting dyed brown hair to make herself look younger (and presumably, attractive).
The comments were so ridiculous that MSNBC host Thomas Roberts took issue with their sexist, hypocritical tone. “So you can’t be a feminist and be girly at the same time?” he asked.
