Quote of the week: ‘FBI bias makes you wonder if Bob Mueller has a tattoo of Hillary on his leg’

There has been no shortage of too-crazy-to-be-real incidents in the Russia investigation otherwise known as Robert Mueller’s circus this week.

And capping off the bizarre entertainment has to be this epic quote as it unfolded on Fox News’ “Hannity” on Tuesday.

“It makes you wonder if Bob Mueller has a tattoo of Hillary Clinton on his leg like the guy on Saturday Night Live does,” GOPAC Chairman David Avella said, referring to Saturday Night Live cast member, Pete Davidson, who revealed he had gotten a tattoo of his  “idol” Hillary Clinton on his leg.

Could apparent bias in Mueller’s Russia probe be connected to a secret tribute to Hillary Clinton by the special counsel?

The Fox News panel guest commented amid ongoing scrutiny of the “political witch hunt” that seems to define the crazy ride aboard the Mueller train thus far.

Senate Judiciary Committee chairman Chuck Grassley called for the firing of Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe , who testified in a closed-door meeting before the House Intelligence Committee as questions abounded on a text by investigator Peter Strzok which appeared to implicate him. Strzok and another Mueller team member exchanged 10,000 anti-Trump, pro-Hillary texts which, when discovered, lead to his removal from the probe and demotion in the FBI.

McCabe, meanwhile,  had recused himself from the investigation into Hillary Clitnon’s email after reports that his wife’s 2015 Virginia state Senate bid was partly funded by Clinton allies. A Fox News contributor even seemed to suggest the deputy director of the FBI plotted an assassination attempt against President Donald Trump. Recent charges leveled against Mueller claim the former FBI director improperly obtained emails of the Trump transition, prompting fears by Democrats that Trump was getting ready to fire the special counsel.

In addition to these whirlwind revelations, another Justice official, Bruce Ohr, came under scrutiny and was demoted after it came to light that he met with Trump-dossier creators at Fusion GPS, which also employed his wife.

Fox News “Hannity”guest-host Kimberly Guilfoyle asked her guests Avella and  legal analyst Gregg Jarrett about what she called the “inherent bias” in the Mueller probe.

Avella’s Mueller tattoo comment was followed  by a scathing rebuke of the special counsel.

“Bob Mueller took a respected career and turned it an emotional therapy session for Clinton apologists who want to use this as a way to justify why Hillary Clinton lost,” Avella argued.

“There were plenty of people he could have picked to put on this investigation,” he added. “Many career FBI agents who would have done a very thorough and much faster investigation than what’s been going on right now and that we’re stuck here with what now looks clearly like a political witch hunt.”

Avella also noted that the investigation actually is “doing more to keep President Trump‘s base behind him” than the Republican tax bill currently in Congress.

“This bill is historic and significant that’s going to pass tonight,” he said. “But yet, the Democrats hope we continue talking about this investigation.”
