Anderson Cooper calls out Omarosa for suspicious timing of leaving Trump White House over ‘uncomfortable’ feelings

CNN’s Anderson Cooper is having a hard time wrapping his head around the suspicious timing of Omarosa Manigault Newman’s departure from the White House.

President Trump’s director of communications for the Office of Public Liaison, and a staunch supporter of Trump from the beginning of his presidential campaign, abruptly left her position in the administration on Wednesday. Manigault Newman’s exit sparked rumors and controversy over her motives and how she actually departed the White House.

“There were a lot of things that I observed during the last year that I was very unhappy with, that I was very uncomfortable with,” Manigault Newman said on “Good Morning America.”

Cooper questioned the timing of the television appearance.

“I’m big on loyalty,” he told panelist and Democratic strategist, Angela Rye, during a segment on “Anderson Cooper 360” on CNN.

“I just think you leave your job under whatever — you have had the opportunity of a lifetime to serve the American people,” Cooper continued.

“And the next thing you do is go on a morning television show and you’re suddenly raising questions about the people you’ve just been serving with to pitch a book?” Cooper said.  “To not even answer those questions? To dangle them out there to whet the appetite of the publisher … it just seems — ”

Rye reacted by claiming that Manigault Newman and Trump are “cut from the same cloth” pursuing “self-preservation” and “saving face.”

White House correspondent and CNN analyst April Ryan sparked controversy Wednesday when she announced – incorrectly – that Manigault Newman’s exit from the White House was marked by drama and even an escort of the White House grounds. Ryan is no fan of Manigault Newman as the two have had a controversial relationship with Ryan claiming she was “physically intimidated” by the Trump aide earlier this year.

The Secret Service dismissed those claims later that evening.
