Obama’s trying to take credit for Trump’s economic boom, but he’s got to get by Sarah Sanders first

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders thinks former President Barack Obama’s attempt to take credit for Trump’s economic boom is “laughable” and pathetic.

“It’s laughable that President Obama thinks he has anything to do with the success of where the economy is right now,” Sanders told Fox News’ Jesse Watters (see video starting at 2:39).

Sanders added that today’s soaring stock market, record-low unemployment rate, and strong GDP growth are all a direct result of President Trump’s leadership.

“This is all a direct result not just of President Trump’s swearing-in, but from the minute he was elected, consumer confidence got stronger, and businesses wanted to participate in our economy again because they have confidence in this president,” Sanders said.

Sanders was responding to Obama’s remarks at a speech last week in Chicago, where he claimed the economy was robust under his tenure (wrong). Obama then claimed the bull market we’ve witnessed since Trump took office is all thanks to him.

“We saw the U.S. economy grow consistently,” Obama said. “We saw the longest streak of job creation in American history by far, a streak that still continues, by the way. Thanks, Obama!”

Sanders and Watters could not keep straight faces while discussing Obama’s thirsty attempt to take credit for the Trump economic boom. The third-quarter gross domestic product growth under Trump just topped 3.3 percent.

In stark contrast, GDP growth under Obama’s presidency averaged an anemic 1.2 percent. Obama is the only U.S. president not to see a single year with at least 3 percent GDP growth since the Great Depression of 1929.

The Dow has cleared more than 65 record highs since Trump took office. The consumer confidence index is soaring, and the nationwide unemployment rate is at a 17-year low.

About about 2 million jobs have been created, and both the S&P 500 Index and Nasdaq have hit record highs since Trump was elected.

Meanwhile, Obama doubled the U.S. national debt because all those entitlement programs and “sanctuary cities” don’t pay for themselves (taxpayers bankroll them).

Sanders noted that Trump is responsible for the recent stellar economic growth, and even Obama knows that deep-down inside.

CBS News reporter Lara Logan: Today’s media are propagandists and left-wing activists

“[The economy] continues to go up, and it started when President Trump was elected and when he got into office,” Sanders said. “It had nothing to do with President Obama. I think everybody knows it, including President Obama. It’s pretty laughable that he’s trying to take credit for it.”
