Police protesting police brutality… what’s next America???
Two black police officers in Chicago may face discipline for an Instagram photo that shows them kneeling beside a woman bowing her head, while raising their fists in a black power salute.
Being the murder capital of America, one might think the officers had more pressing matters to address than showing sympathy toward millionaire NFL players.
The controversial photo was posted Sunday on an Instagram account belonging to Aleta Clark, a community activist who sells T-shirts with the slogan “Hugs No Slugs,” the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
“That Moment when you walk into the police station and ask the Men of Color are they Against Police Brutality and Racism & they say Yes… then you ask them if they support Colin Kapernick… and they also say yes… then you ask them to Kneel.! ✊??? #ColinKaepernick #WeSupportYou,” the caption read.
In a statement to the Sun-Times, Chicago Police Department spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said discipline is likely.
“We are aware of the photo, and we will address it in the same way we have handled previous incidents in which officers have made political statements while in uniform, with a reprimand and a reminder of department policies,” Guglielimi said.
Clark, who posted a video on her Instagram account complaining that “European” officers refused to kneel with her, is reveling in the attention, despite the officers she suckered into posing with her potentially getting into trouble.
Posting a photo of the Sun-Times front page depicting her photo, she wrote: “Don’t be afraid to be Controversial. #ColinKaepernick #WeSupportYou Stand for something.”
