Two robbers walk into a bar…
But the armed suspects who targeted one particular Maryland bar couldn’t have picked a worse time or place to commit their crime.
Joseph McInnis III, 21, and 22-year-old Tyree McCoy held up an employee of Monaghan’s Pub in Woodlawn at gunpoint Tuesday evening, WBAL-TV reported. Though the pair made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, they didn’t get far.
They were quickly caught and taken into custody because the bar, which the news outlet said is “known as a police officer hangout,” had been full of dozens of off-duty officers who were celebrating a colleague’s retirement party.
“I’m sure that they weren’t planning on there being a large room filled with police officers,” Baltimore County police Officer Jennifer Peach told WBAL.
The suspects had entered the take-out portion of the pub unaware of the large gathering of police in the building.

“At that time, the person who had been behind the counter knew that there was a retirement party for a police officer happening, so they went into the other portion and alerted the officers to the fact that they had just been involved in an armed robbery,” Peach said.
Instant karma.
Off-duty officers at the party ran out and caught the suspects before they had gotten very far.
The suspects were charged with armed robbery and possession of a handgun and were being held without bond at the Baltimore County Detention Center, according to WBAL.
“You can’t fix stupid,” one Twitter user commented on the news, and many others agreed.
