Kim Kardashian as Jackie O in ‘blackface’? People are FURIOUS over this photo spread

Kim Kardashian released photos of a Jackie Kennedy-inspired photo shoot that earned her some heavy backlash on social media.

The reality television star posed with her daughter North West for the September issue of Interview Magazine, which dubbed Kardashian  “America’s New First Lady” on the cover shot.

Fans were definitely not happy with Kardashian’s look, which the 36 year-old revealed to her more than 55 million followers in several shots from the photo shoot.

Twitter users slammed Kardashian’s “blackface” photo, accusing the reality star, who is married to rapper Kanye West, for having her skin purposely darkened to match her daughter’s complexion,

She went on the defensive back in June when photos to sell a makeup product made her appear to be in “blackface” as the shade was too dark. Kardashian apologized on social media, offering up explanations for how the “contrast was off” in the photo.

Many others were outraged that Kardashian would be compared the the iconic former First Lady. The reality star reportedly bid on and won Kennedy’s Cartier watch back in June.

“If anyone can be said to embody the American Dream, it’s Kim Kardashian West,” the Interview article read.

“A decade into Keeping Up With the Kardashians, the show has evolved from covering Brady Bunch antics and innocuous drama to serving as a rooted-in-real-life mirror to what the American family looks like today, bringing up topics such as race, gender, and, more recently, trans identity,” the article continued.

It remains to be seen how many will pick up the issue for the interview in which Kardashian talks about her marriage to West and bringing up her four year-old daughter. But it’s pretty clear from the backlash that the photos are not a hit.
