A group of Alabama students has turned the tables on the liberals at their high school by launching a petition calling for the removal of a rainbow pride flag.
The Change.org petition launched by students and parents claimed the flag does not respect the sensitivities of students who don’t support LGBTQ rights, comparing it to displaying a Confederate flag, NBC News reported.

“We strongly feel that it creates a hostile and provocative learning environment for students not comfortable to openly supporting the LGBTQ+ community in a public school where students come from diverse political and religious backgrounds,” the petition begun by Andrew Monk and addressed to Auburn High School principal Shannon Pignato stated.
The anonymous group of students and parents represented by the petition argued that the flag, displayed in a classroom to promote EDUCATE, a club that promotes diversity, creates “a less than ideal learning environment.”
It is unprofessional and distracting for a teacher to be so openly displaying their political views in an unbiased and socially neutral public setting,” the petition stated.
“The signers of this petition would like for you to consider the uproar and chaos that would ensue were a teacher to hang for example a Confederate, Christian, or Heterosexual Flag in their classroom. There would likely be protests, emails from teachers, and threatening of lawsuits from parents with differing viewpoints,” it continued.
No one has come forward to present the principal with the petition and those who support it continue to remain anonymous, a spokesperson from Auburn High School told NBC.
“[Principal Pignato] is aware of the situation and is working with staff and students to address the concerns. While we are aware of the online petition, there is not a controversy at our school,” the statement said.
At the time of this writing, there were 940 of the needed 1000 signatures collected.
A counter Change.org petition “against the removal of Mrs. Yeager’s LGBT Pride flag” was launched following the original and was also addressed to Pignato.
“The pride flag and the [Auburn High School] Educate club has served to provide a healthy environment for our LGBT+ peers to feel comfortable being who they truly are,” the counter-petition, begun by Brandon Sinniger, stated. “The flag represents this safe space, and frankly, the sentiment for removing the pride flag is an affront to the work that has been done nationally to fight for recognition of the community.”
Not surprisingly, that petition is nearing its 7,500 signature goal with 6,845 supporting signatures.

“In the real world, to suggest individuals be isolated from differing political views is an absurdity. To be made uncomfortable by opinions differing to your own is to function as a modern human. Attempting to insulate a student from political discourse would be an insult to their intelligence.,” the petition stated.
Of course, in the real world the petition refers to, liberals launch attacks and meltdowns over any opinions that don’t agree with their “political discourse.”
It appears like the safe space referred to in the petition only applies to those on one side of the argument.

The article says it’s in a classroom. I agree it should come down. School should be neutral & treat all students the same. No place for PC

Imagine if I tried to fly a heterosexuality flag at a high school.

Take it down. Tacit government favoritism is wrong no matter what’s on the flag. You come to school to learn, not to be indoctrinated.
