President Trump lashed out at “publicity seeking” Senator Lindsey Graham in an early morning tweet storm.
Trump called out the South Carolina Republican for accusing him of dividing the country with his remarks about the violence in Charlottesville, Virginia.
“Publicity seeking Lindsey Graham falsely stated that I said there is moral equivalency between the KKK, neo-Nazis & white supremacists and people like Ms. Heyer,” he tweeted Thursday morning, referring to 32 year-old Heather Heyer who was killed by a car driven into a crowd of counter protesters at the white nationalists rally.

“Such a disgusting lie,” Trump continued. “He just can’t forget his election trouncing. The people of South Carolina will remember.”
Graham had harsh words for the president, releasing a statement Wednesday accusing him of taking “a step backward” with his comments.
“Mr. President, I encourage you to try to bring us together as a nation after this horrific event in Charlottesville. Your words are dividing Americans, not healing them,” Graham said.

“Through his statements yesterday, President Trump took a step backward by again suggesting there is moral equivalency between the white supremacist neo-Nazis and KKK members who attended the Charlottesville rally and people like Ms. Heyer,” he added.

Graham along with many Trump critics have attacked the president even though he has explicitly condemned all violence and placed blame on “both sides.”
In a later, separate tweet, Trump lashed out at the “fake news” media for “distorting” his words.
The public is learning (even more so) how dishonest the Fake News is. They totally misrepresent what I say about hate, bigotry etc. Shame!
