Conservative talk show host Mark Levin shredded Joe Scarborough and the media in defense of President Trump as he pointed out that respect is a two-way street.
Levin, author of the book “Rediscovering Americanism: And the Tyranny of Progressivism,” said a “man’s man” like Trump can only take so much before he’s “gonna stand up,” as he spoke with Fox News’ Sean Hannity on the controversy over the president’s tweets about MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” and its co-host Mika Brzezinski.
“You attack a man repeatedly who’s a proud man, who’s an accomplished man, who is a man’s man. You attack him personally. You attack him for his looks. You attack him for his genitalia. And at some point, a man’s gonna stand up,” Levin said on “Hannity” Thursday.
“You want him to act presidential? Then you have respect for the office of the president,” he added.
While Levin understood the outrage, he admitted his only objection to the tweet was for a different reason.
“The liberals and morals — they’re all worked up, and they’re very upset about it. The only reason I object to what the president did with this tweet was because he jacked up the ratings for that nonsensical show that I never watched — Scarborough and Scarborough and company,” he said. “I’m not saying you should have tweeted that. It’s not the end of the world that he did tweet it either.”
Levin began the segment criticizing the “Morning Joe” host as “part of a bad lounge act over there at the conga line of left-wing freaks they call MSNBC.”
He added that Trump’s tweet and the ensuing meltdown by the left reveals a deeper issue.
“You know, it’s nice to know where the liberals finally draw the line on this tweet by this president,” he told Hannity, pointing out that liberals were not bothered by former President Clinton, who “was accused of rape and molesting and sexually attacking women in the Oval Office,” nor were they bothered by other presidential immoralities. But Trump’s tweet appears to be where the hypocritical left draws the line of acceptable behavior, Levin noted.
“So the bottom line is, MSNBC has a problem,” he continued. “From morning until night, it’s the same damn show with different people, different dresses, different suits. It’s the same thing.”
But Levin encouraged the president to keep tweeting because “the public really hates the media,” and Trump needs to continue to engage the people while going over the media’s heads.
“Trump himself said ‘Look, one out of ten I screw up.’ Okay, one out of ten he screws up! That’s a better average than the media, now isn’t it?” he said.
“I’m not president but let me try this one,” Levin concluded, taking a final shot at Scarborough.
“You ever see the little banjo player on the bridge in the movie Deliverance?” he asked. “Now that guy looks like Joe Scarborough.”
