To the financial relief of a DC pub owner, President Donald Trump remained quiet during former FBI director James Comey’s highly anticipated testimony before the Senate intelligence committee.
…but his namesake more than made up for the president’s inactivity on social media.
Donald Trump Jr. tweeted commentary throughout the morning, and the first son was in no mood to mince his words, calling “BS” on the commotion over his dad’s remarks about former national security adviser Michael Flynn.
He took issue with Comey saying that he “took it as a direction” when the president said of the investigation of Flynn, “I hope you can let this go.”
“Knowing my father for 39 years when he ‘orders or tells’ you to do something there is no ambiguity, you will know exactly what he means,” Trump Jr. tweeted.
1/3 Flynn stuff is BS in context 2 guys talking about a guy they both know well. I hear "I hope nothing happens but you have to do your job"

2/3 very far from any kind of coercion or influence and certainly not obstruction!

The president’s oldest son made no effort to hide his disdain for Comey:
Hoping and telling are two very different things, you would think that a guy like Comey would know that. #givemeabreak
— Donald Trump Jr. (@DonaldJTrumpJr) June 8, 2017
He scoffed at Comey’s suggestion that he would’ve stood up to Trump had he been a “stronger” person.
So if he was a "Stronger guy" he might have actually followed procedure & the law? You were the director of the FBI, who are you kidding?😂

Trump Jr. was re-tweeting commentary from others throughout the morning, but kept coming back to tweets from famed Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz, to include the hashtag #NothingBurger:
Interesting! When @AlanDersh (not exactly the alt right) is continually backing up @realDonaldTrump you know its over. #NothingBurger https://t.co/MUYbmk2VdR

…But not a crime for Pres to exercise his constitutional authority @NormEisen

Powerful oral statement by Comey criticizing President Trump. Doesn't claim he committed any crime. Again important distinction.
— Alan Dershowitz (@AlanDersh) June 8, 2017
and again… I could do this all day but you get the idea. https://t.co/hWcIqHZvOx
— Donald Trump Jr. (@DonaldJTrumpJr) June 8, 2017
You cannot have obstruction of justice when the president exercises his constitutional authority to fire the director of the FBI. https://t.co/PUPmb2gfdh
— Alan Dershowitz (@AlanDersh) June 8, 2017
The one consistency on display was letting Comey have it, and did he ever:
Did I miss something or did Comey just say he asked a friend to leak information to the press? Is this a joke?
— Donald Trump Jr. (@DonaldJTrumpJr) June 8, 2017
Trump Jr. was particularly fond of Sen. Marco Rubio’s line of questioning, which included the killer question about the “only thing that’s never been leaked” about President Trump.
Solid point and seems rather convenient for the partisan nonsense we have seen play out for months. https://t.co/PpYkSVRzmA

For those unable to catch Comey’s testimony on television, all they need do is follow Trump Jr.’s Twitter feed… he even kept score for all:
