Former Secret Service agent Dan Bongino has a scathing message to White House “losers” who are leaking intelligence information.
The former New York Police Department officer and host of “The Renegade Republican” podcast minced no words reacting to news of the arrest of a 25 year-old federal contractor for espionage.
“Here’s my advice to these leakers,” Bongino told the “Fox & Friends” hosts on Tuesday. “Grow a spine, you gutless punks. Leave the government. Stop taking our taxpayer money, you thieves, to basically destroy the United States from within.”
Bongino slammed those like Reality Leigh Winner, who was charged with mailing classified reports to the press, reminding them that – regardless of the president in power- they “swore an oath” that transcends party affiliation.
“I’m speaking from experience here and not with forked tongue,” Bongino said, adding that he was “not looking for a pity party.”
“I gave up my salary, my health benefits and everything because I felt like the country was headed in the wrong direction under Barack Obama,” he said, referring to his departure from his Secret Service job in 2011 to seek a U.S. Senate seat.
“If this is your model of governing going forward,” Bongino told leakers, “we’re all really screwed.”
He agreed with host Brian Kilmeade that Winner was probably not alone.
“Sadly, there’s a large cadre of losers right now working within the government amongst very patriotic people,” he said, “whose loyalty is not to the government but to their political ideology first. Go find a new line of work, you spineless cowards.”
Bongino called on the maximum sentence for Winner so as to “set an example” for anyone else. He also called for a “more vigorous, robust polygraph program” to deal with all the people in the government who have access to classified information.
“When you start polygraphing people, when you put them on the box,” he said, “you’ll see the sweat coming down their brow.”
Bongino also had a word of advice for the “clown class” in Hollywood.
“You want to be brave? Stand up for something on principle,” he said. “But they have no bravery at all. They just fall off the cliff like a bunch of Hollywood lemmings because they want an applause line from the crowd.”
