Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker posted a simple tweet Sunday in recognition of the Memorial Day weekend, but, alas, nothing is simple when it comes to politics.
The post featured a photo of some chicken, beef and vegetable kebabs on a grill, along with the caption: “Grilling out!!!”

And with that, social media users with too much time on their hands and too much cynicism in their hearts went to work skewering the Republican governor, critiquing his barbecuing skills and techniques.

Many of the responses came close to being funny, if not for being so darn petty… here’s a sampling from Twitter, to include a few sad attempts to politicize a cook out!
@ScottWalker Salt, Pepper, a little olive oil. If you cant handle the basics step away from the grill.

@ScottWalker Not marinated. Not seasoned. Onions cooking as long as chicken. This screams “Norovirus!!!” Were you raised by wolves?

@ScottWalker Good lord, it’s clear that you’re either very drunk, or that you hate your guests, or both.

Don't eat at @ScottWalker's house.
Don't buy what he's selling on healthcare or #Medicaid.

Others just took advantage of the opportunity to brag on their own barbecuing prowess:
