Americans believe the Democratic Party is more out of touch with everyday people than the Republican Party or President Trump.
According to a new ABC News/Washington Post poll, 67% of Americans believe the Democratic Party is out of touch with everyday people, while 62% believe that of Republicans. Meanwhile, 58 percent said the same for President Trump. The poll canvassed a random national sampling of 1,004 adults.
Interestingly, the poll shows that a whopping 44% of Democrats believe their party is out of touch, compared to 30% for Republicans. This spotlights the internal turmoil within the Democratic Party, which is still reeling after losing the White House and both houses of Congress in the 2016 election cycle.
Joe Borelli, a Republican councilman in New York City, told Fox News that Democrats are still flailing after being destroyed at the polls, and that constantly obstructing and protesting Trump is getting them nowhere. “It’s just about being part of this ‘resistance movement,’ playing to the cheap seats in the party,” Borelli said.

Democratic strategist Richard Fowler conceded that the party is in disarray and searching for a new leader. “We’re trying to figure out what our message is, what our strategy is, and there’s many folks working on that,” Fowler said.
Borelli said the Democrats are rudderless because they don’t have a charismatic leader in the post-Obama era. “The truth is that the Democratic Party is a ship without a captain,” he said.
Borelli continued: “And this is not a good place to be going into 2018 midterm elections, where you have to defend four Senate seats in states where Trump won. It’s a disaster waiting to happen for the party, and they’re not willing to make the changes necessary to correct it.”
Not surprisingly, President Trump agrees.
