A beaming first lady Melania Trump hosted a luncheon Wednesday at the White House in recognition of International Women’s Day.

Amid a lot of aimless protesting by the left, Mrs. Trump reminded the room of actual struggles for freedom and equality.

“As an immigrant myself, having grown up in a communist society, I know all too well the value and importance of freedom and equal opportunity — ideals which this great nation was founded and has continued to strive towards throughout its history,” the first last said, according to her prepared remarks.

With a new CNN/ORC poll released Wednesday showing the first lady’s approval rating jumping double digits since her husband was sworn in, from 36 percent to 52 percent, Mrs. Trump commented on human trafficking and true repression women face around the world.

“There remains far more brutal and terrifying incarnations of actual gender persecution which we must face together, such as forced enslavement, sexual abuse and absolute repression of far too many women and girls around the globe,” she said.

“We must remember these women in our daily prayers and use our combined resources to help free them from such unthinkable and inhumane circumstances.”

The lunch was her first solo event as first lady, CBSN reported, and she did not disappoint.

President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence each made brief appearances at the luncheon, with the vice president tweeting afterwards:
