Comedian Sarah Silverman earned some realistic feedback after she took on the weighty topic of motherhood and her life choices.
“As a comic always working & on the road I have had to decide between motherhood & living my fullest life & I chose the latter,” the 46-year-old, who recently called for a military coup to oust President Donald Trump, tweeted on Monday.
As a comic always working & on the road I have had to decide between motherhood & living my fullest life & I chose the latter.

But why would a woman have to choose between the two, Twitter users wondered, accusing Silverman of “mother shaming.”
@Moj_kobe @SarahKSilverman Umm….motherhood is my “fullest life”. I suppose it’s either that or depending on the approval of strangers.
— Kate Ness (@KateSNess) February 28, 2017
@SarahKSilverman honest question. Does motherhood have to be at odds with living the fullest life?
— Cody Q Balfour (@CodyBalfour) February 28, 2017
@SarahKSilverman Sarah. OMG. You chose the option that works best for you. Period. There is mother shaming in that statement.
— Janet Lee Nye (@JanLNye) February 28, 2017
Yeah, moms don’t live their fullest lives or anything. https://t.co/2IXqVgy4lV
— Dana Loesch (@DLoesch) February 28, 2017
@DLoesch in Sarah’s defense, the world is ultimately a better place for her decision.
— Sam Burnham (@C_SamBurnham) February 28, 2017
I’ve seen the world. It was in the eyes of my children. https://t.co/2JLsvrcepP
— Sarah (@sarahrstevenson) February 28, 2017
And if you don’t want kids, that’s cool. But don’t act like those of us who do aren’t living our fullest life.
— Sarah (@sarahrstevenson) February 28, 2017
You chose.
Lucky you.
You got to choose
Yet you still whine. https://t.co/TivH2WtrXf
— PollySpin (@PollySpin) February 28, 2017
@SarahKSilverman So your “fullest life” is being a foul mouthed less than mediocre comedian. Congratulations I guess

No stranger to igniting heated Twitter feedback, Silverman hurled verbal abuse at critics who mocked her tweet earlier this month claiming marks on the sidewalk by utility workers looked like swastikas.
In pondering motherhood and her choice to not have children, Silverman added another tweet about men and how she would love to be a “fun dad.”
@SarahKSilverman Men don’t have to do that. I’d so love to be a fun dad, coming home from the road & being my best fun dad self.
— Sarah Silverman (@SarahKSilverman) February 28, 2017
“That’s a fact jack,” she insisted in another tweet saying it was impossible to be a woman without making sacrifices.
So this is just a lil fuck all y’all bc u can’t be a woman w/out sacrifice & that’s the fact jack.
— Sarah Silverman (@SarahKSilverman) February 28, 2017
And I ❤️ my comedian brothers that acknowledge this truth. They’re my family & for a lot of us women comic sisters, our only family
— Sarah Silverman (@SarahKSilverman) February 28, 2017
Silverman managed to insult both men and women with her tweets as many on Twitter reacted to her narrow-minded comments.

It’s ironic that a “progressive” is parroting a 50’s-esque stereotype about parenting roles in an attempt to highlight female empowerment. https://t.co/EpwsGsGZwO

Yeah my “fun dad” worked non-stop to put a roof over my head and make sure I had everything I needed to succeed. He had it so easy. https://t.co/yfzVwJa3iz
— Jenna (@jennaep7) February 28, 2017
This is bullshit and it’s totally insulting to hard-working dads who love their families. https://t.co/RQ81lI9qKS

My husband raised 4 kids by himself while I was deployed for 6 months. Parenting is a team sport. https://t.co/ACN01L2LCr
— Sarah (@sarahrstevenson) February 28, 2017
@SarahKSilverman Geez, you are so way off. Best accomplishment of my life is raising my kids.
— Stewart Hanson (@Jaystew17) February 28, 2017
@SarahKSilverman Really? My husband takes care of our babies when I’m deployed. Your view of parenthood is sexist and sad.
— Cate (@ArmyofBlonde) February 28, 2017
@SarahKSilverman fatherhood is living my life to the fullest
— Edward (@US395) February 28, 2017
@SarahKSilverman as a single father I have to tell u that u seem to have a very warped perception of what being a father is…
— Evan (@EvanLEddy) February 28, 2017
@SarahKSilverman wait, I thought feminist could do it all?
— Gina Thompson (@kentucarolinian) February 28, 2017
@SarahKSilverman just Hollywood speaking out of its a$$ once again.
