Did Meryl Streep’s anti-Trump rant land her the Oscar nom? Veteran Academy voter gives her brutal take

Meryl Streep has won three Academy Awards for her acting. But this year, she may just win another — and not for her on-screen performance.

A Hollywood insider who’s one of a handful of Oscar voters said Streep earned her nomination this year because of her anti-Trump rants.

This industry veteran, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told the Hollywood Reporter that Streep’s performance in the box-office flop “Florence Foster Jenkins” was terrible, but her anti-Trump tirades put her over the top for an Oscar nom.

“I thought Meryl played it like a clown,” said the insider. “But people are gaga over Meryl, and I think she solidified her nomination when she gave that speech at the Golden Globes. I don’t think she would have gotten nominated without it.”

During this awards season, Streep has repeatedly slammed President Trump, calling him racist, bigoted and mean. She also compared Trump and his supporters to Nazis. After fawning liberal media panted at how courageous Streep was for trashing Trump, an Iraq War veteran shut her down with a simple tweet.

J.R. Salzman, who lost his hand after he was blown up by a bomb in Iraq, said he only hoped that he can one day be as “courageous and selfless as Meryl Streep.”

The stench of Hollywood hypocrisy got so nauseating that actor Robert Davi challenged Hollywood liberals like Streep to invite illegal aliens and unvetted refugees to the Oscars and after-parties without any security.

If they refuse to invite these needy folks, then they’re racist, Davi charged. So far, no one in Hollywood has taken Davi up on his challenge.
