Looks like kids from an elite New York City school will not have their annual ice skating party because their parents don’t like the president.
Parents of children from The Dalton School made a stand against fun because President Donald Trump’s name is associated with the public ice rink, which is located in Central Park.

The “Dalton on Ice” event, scheduled to be held at Trump Wollman Rink, had to be canceled because “it would not be financially prudent” due to “significantly lower attendance,” the Parents Association at The Dalton School announced in a letter Thursday, the New York Post reported.

That lower attendance was due to anti-Trump sentiment at the private school on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, where a single year of tuition for students in kindergarten through grade 12 is $44,640. That rate, the school notes, is “the lowest of our peer schools.”
The school’s list of alumni include CNN’s Anderson Cooper.

The president of the parent’s association declined to comment but other parents spoke out against the boycott, according to the Post.
“I think it is completely insane,” one Dalton parent said “Like him or not, it feels like a strange place for New Yorkers to protest. And sad that kids now have no skating party.”
Another annoyed parent blamed a clique of Upper East Side “liberal moms” who are upset with Trump for pressuring the headmaster to cancel the party.
Trump Wollman Rink was renovated in 1986 by the real estate tycoon after the city spent six years and $13 million but failed to complete the job. Trump took over and reopened the rink two months ahead of his schedule and under budget at $2.25 million.
