Fresh off epic tongue lashing, Washington Post rolls out new motto

Fresh off a tongue lashing of epic proportions Thursday from President Donald Trump over a level of dishonesty that is “out of control,” a ranking member of the media tried out a new motto.

The day after Trump told the mainstream media to its face “the public doesn’t believe you people anymore,” The Washington Post demo’d “a bleak new motto” on Snapchat, according to Fortune senior writer Mathew Ingram.

The new catchphrase read: “Democracy Dies in Darkness.”

Ingram gave a hat tip to CNN’s Brian Stetler, who characterized the motto as a “new ‘value statement'” for The Post:

The president followed up Thursday’s performance with a tweet on Friday saying the news media “is not my enemy, it is the enemy of the American People!”
