Another attempt by the mainstream media to shame President Donald Trump has backfired.
It turns out the Michigan man who claimed the president’s executive order on immigrant travel caused his sick Iraqi mother to die because she could not get treatment lied about what really happened.
How. About. That. https://t.co/n1FOhIw84q

Mike Hager, of Detroit, claimed he was visiting his ailing 75 year-old mother in Iraq when she became ill. He further claimed that an attempt to bring her to Michigan for treatment was unsuccessful because of Trump’s travel ban, causing the woman to remain in Iraq where she died on Saturday.
But an Islamic leader in Dearborn refuted Hager’s narrative, confirming to WJBK-TV that the mother died before the ban was even put in place.

According to Imam Husham Al-Hussainy, leader of the Karbalaa Islamic Educational Center, Hager’s mother was receiving treatment for kidney disease in Michigan where she lived. She traveled to Iraq to visit family and died there on January 22.
“That’s true. The 22nd of January, his mom died,” Al-Hussainy told WJBK. “She did die but that was a couple weeks ago – before the ban.”
Bet the media is glad to get the real story. It’s not like they took off with the fraudulent tale to begin with or anything.

@chrislhayes This in infuriating. We lose all credibility when someone lies and the press repeats the lie. How can we believe anything?

@chrislhayes damnit. People need to realize when they fake this stuff it takes away the significance of when it actually does happen
