Republicans put hilarious creative spin on an old banner to troll Nancy Pelosi – and it worked

The National Republican Congressional Committee is letting Nancy Pelosi know they’ve got her back.

The NRCC welcomed the California Democrat with a banner hanging outside of its Washington D.C. office in anticipation of the Democratic race for minority leader in the House of Representatives.

Using the 2010 RNC sign that read “Fire Pelosi,” the GOP slightly altered the banner to now read “Hire Pelosi,” confident that her continued leadership of Democrats will ensure Republican control in the House for a long time.

The NRCC account on Twitter also featured a #StandWithNancy hashtag and tweets targeted to specific Democrats.

Pelosi, who squares off against Rep. Tim Ryan of Ohio for the leadership spot on Wednesday, fired back with a tweet of her own and  a .Gif for good measure.

With the ball in their court, the GOP continued its sarcasm with a follow-up response.

Some Twitter users begged to differ, giving credit to another Democrat for that dubious honor.
