‘Why do you care?’ Kellyanne Conway schools CNN’s Cuomo about Trump’s right to tweet

Donald Trump’s campaign manager Kellyanne Conway gave a spirited defense of the President-elect using social media to call out the cast of the Broadway play “Hamilton” for disrespecting his running mate Mike Pence.

Appearing on CNN’s “New Day,” Conway gave host Chris Cuomo all he could handle when he criticized Trump for using Twitter to go after his critics.

“Why take it up? Why take up SNL?,” Cuomo asked. “No president does that. Why waste time? Why distract?”

“Why do you care?” Conway shot back. “Who’s to say he can’t do that, spend five minutes on a tweet and move on?”

Conway had earlier explained to Cuomo the benefit of using social media.

“He has over 25 million followers on Facebook and Twitter and it’s a great way for him to take his message directly to the people,” she said. “Cut through the noise, or the silence, whatever the case may be. Sometimes important things that he’s saying or doing are getting zero coverage.”

The CNN anchor still pressed on why Trump would do it.

“You’re assigning malice,” Conway replied. “You’re assigning wrongdoing to him where it doesn’t exist.”
