Clinton on defense: Campaign in panic mode over prospect of losing ‘blue’ Michigan

Hillary Clinton is seeing red over blue stalwart Michigan.

The Democratic nominee is scrambling to defend the unlikely battleground as polls suggest Donald Trump is gaining momentum in the traditionally blue state.

trump-michiganFormer President Bill Clinton spoke in Lansing on Sunday, and President Barack Obama appears in Ann Arbor on Monday, Business Insider reported.

And Hillary Clinton herself will swing through Grand Rapids on Monday as she makes a furious final push before the Nov. 8 election.

Michigan, part of the Democratic “blue wall,” has not gone Republican since 1988. Obama carried Michigan both in 2008 and 2012.

While Clinton was trouncing Trump in Michigan during the past few months, her sky-high unfavorability — coupled with her numerous scandals — have chipped away at her lead.

Even liberal director Michael Moore, who despises Trump, conceded Trump could win Michigan. “I know a lot of people in Michigan who are going to vote for Trump,” Moore said.

Trump has pounced on Clinton’s flailing poll numbers, and held a rally in Sterling Heights on Sunday, where he promised to return Michigan to its former economic glory.

“We will make Michigan into the manufacturing hub of the world once again, and no politician will do that. They don’t have a clue,” he said.

Trump will wrap up his final five-state push with a rally in Grand Rapids on Monday night.
