Well that’s awkward.
Leaked emails from Hillary Clinton campaign manager John Podesta showed there was worry from the team about Vice President Joe Biden stepping into the election race.
In a series of emails from September 2015, Podesta communicated with Center for American Progress President Neera Tanden and Clinton communications director Jennifer Palmieri about Biden announcing that he was running.
“Heard he is now telling union Presidents he is running,” Podesta wrote in the email with the subject line “Re: My prediction.”
Palmieri’s simple response: “Lord, have mercy.”
“Lord have mercy.”

Clearly there was worry about the possibility of a Biden run, signaling perhaps that there would have been more support for the 73 year-old former senator from Delaware than for Clinton during the primaries.
@BecketAdams Why wouldn’t they be? Even if they felt certain they could beat him, they knew it would take tons of $ and effort.

There was enough worry to spark a few emails, apparently.

Hillary’s camp thought Biden was announcing his run for POTUS on Colbert. “Lord, have mercy”. #PodestaEmails18 https://t.co/9ssT2nlbtP pic.twitter.com/r2PJJLMbgO

Colbert wouldn’t have Biden on his show unless he was going to announce Pres Run #PodestaEmails18 “Lord have mercy” https://t.co/tSV3nSpgPn pic.twitter.com/TaL7qwKCaS

Might be a bit awkward on the campaign trail with the vice president set to be stumping for Clinton this week.
