At a South Carolina fundraiser, donors gave Donald Trump a record-breaking $1.3 million.
The Trump team is calling the figure a state record for a single event, raising a total of $1.5 million, according to Politico. South Carolina donors represented $1.3 million of the total according to the state’s Lt. Gov. Henry McMaster and a campaign official.
A 2004 fundraiser for George W. Bush provided the previous South Carolina record, raising $1.1 million.
The Trump fundraiser on Friday was attended by more than 100 people at Longview Country Club in Waxhaw, North Carolina, on the South Carolina state line. Tickets for the event were $2,700, “table hosts” gave or raised $27,000 and co-chairs gave or raised $100,000, according to Politico.
McMaster, one of the most prominent officials to endorse Trump early on, served as a chairman for the event along with Bill Stern and Ed McMullen, Trump’s South Carolina co-chairman who led the event’s fundraising.
“There were longtime Republican leaders from all across the state and they were highly enthusiastic,” McMaster said. “There was a lot of cheering going on.”
