The Clinton sprint to the Far Left

The greatest service that former presidential candidate Bernie Sanders did for conservatives is push his former foe Hillary Clinton to the far left. In fact, she is full steam ahead to the left, hoping to convince Sanders’ supporters to go to the polls for her. Conservatives call it The sprint to the Far Left; she can’t get there fast enough.

Truth is, Clinton is stumbling all over herself to move to Obama’s left. She is almost forced to do this because she seeks to lead a party that has strayed mightily from the party her husband commanded 20 years ago.  And Bill’s reign was far from a free market paradise. Now she wants Bill to be in charge of her economy, but this Bill won’t be the Bill of the 1990s.

Clinton hates the banks more than Obama, and just as much as Sanders, even though the banks have provided her with multi-million dollar paydays. With Clinton, the only thing more important than money is votes.

Clinton’s leap to the left of Obama not only includes new banking relations she unveiled in December, but new attacks on banks, which are easy to demonize. She’s also left of Obama on:

Immigration- she states she will go “even further” than Obama, including pledges not to deport any illegal immigrants except violent criminals, closing immigrant detention centers, and pushing for “a path to full and equal citizenship” for immigrants already here, including illegals;

Trade- She’s disavowed the Trans-Pacific Partnership she helped negotiate as Obama’s Secretary of State, a deal she called the “Gold Standard” of trade deals, and criticized Obama for not working with opponents of the deal. She would create a “Trade Prosecutor”;

Energy- she will “accelerate” energy programs beyond “the Obama administration”, especially solar;

Health care- she will “build on” Obamacare, and “go even further”, providing “new credits to those facing high health expenses”, and slapping price controls on new drugs. She’s proposed a “government-run insurance plan” and a “public option buy into Medicare”;

Entitlements and Welfare- Clinton opposes the five-year limit on cash benefits to welfare recipients, and wants to expand Social Security to more classes of people, paid for by higher taxes. “She framed the plan as an extension of (Obama’s) Affordable Care Act,” says Ballotpedia. Her entitlement plan will push American workers out of the workforce by mandating overtime pay increases and the minimum wage, and paid family leave. She’s really “going one better” than Obama’s disastrous policies. Clinton seeks to fatten the welfare state as we face $20 trillion of national debt, and global recession. This can only end badly;

Student Loans– She would give a 3-month moratorium on repaying student loans, also a $115 billion student loan forgiveness program. Further, Clinton told the Congressional Black Caucus, “I like the idea of giving every baby born in America a $5,000 account that will grow over time…” to pay for college education. That’s $20 billion expended every year;

Charter schools- Last November, Clinton changed her earlier positive beliefs on charter schools, mostly because unions loathe charters. She said charters “don’t take the hardest-to-teach kids, or…they don’t keep them” which puts public schools in a “no-win situation”;

Taxes- She will impose a new 4% surtax on total income, and raise taxes on individual and business income.

What we have here in Clinton is Obama’s heir apparent, a third term of Barack Obama. More of the same, only worse, with her ability to pack the Supreme Court with “judicial activist” liberals. And, with a veto pen and executive orders, she will protect and preserve Obama’s initiatives, then go on to finish Obama’s policy goals.

So, if you like Obama, you’ll love Clinton. Her appeals are always to emotions, not to intellect– to the heart, not the head. And yet, wasn’t eight years enough? Your country has been in decline for nearly a decade, now you have the chance to set America on a different course. In the coming election, let’s not prove “there’s a sucker born every minute”, because suckers vote too.
