It’s understandable that a compromised media would jump at the chance to trash Donald Trump, but when a former director of the Central Intelligence Agency follows suit, it’s enough to make you wonder.
Appearing on CNN Tuesday, Michael Hayden, the former head of America’s premier intelligence agency, all but called for Trump to be arrested for a remark made about Second Amendment supporters stopping Hillary Clinton.
…which the hyperventilating left claimed was a call to assassinate the Democratic nominee.
“Let me tell you, if someone else had said that said outside the hall, he’d be in the back of a police wagon now with the Secret Service questioning him,” Hayden told anchor Jake Tapper.
“You’re not just responsible for what you say. You are responsible for what people hear,” he added.
Trump’s comment that has liberals up in arms was a reference to the voting power of the NRA, assuming a rational frame of mind.
“Hillary wants to abolish — essentially abolish the Second Amendment. By the way, if she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks. Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is, I don’t know,” the GOP nominee said at a rally on Tuesday.
But Hayden seemingly bought into the far-reaching media narrative that Trump was talking about Clinton being killed.
“That was more than a speed bump. That is actually a very arresting comment,” Haydem said. “It suggests either a very bad taste with reference to political assassination and an attempt at humor or an incredible insensitivity — it maybe the latter — an incredible insensitivity to the prevalence of political assassination inside of American history.”
“That is a topic that we don’t ever come close to, even when we think we are trying to be lighthearted.”
Unless the topic can be used to diminish the political opposition.
