Newt Gingrich: ‘How come Hillary doesn’t owe the whole country an apology?’

Newt Gingrich blasted the media’s double standard in demanding an apology from Donald Trump while turning a blind eye to Hillary Clinton.

“Anybody watching this campaign knows that at least 80 percent of the elite media is in the tank for Hillary,” Gingrich told Fox News host Greta Van Susteren Monday on ” On the Record.”

Gingrich argued that while the media continues to attack Trump for comments he made after being criticized by Khizr Khan, whose son was killed in Iraq while serving in the U.S. Army, the same attention has not been given to Clinton’s brazen lying about her emails.

“Now she’s lying about 50-some thousand emails,” the former House Speaker said. “She’s lying about national security. Why shouldn’t she apologize? If Donald Trump owes anybody an apology, how come Hillary doesn’t owe the whole country an apology?”

Trump would be better off apologizing to the Khans, Gingrich noted, and getting the incident behind him “but he’s a stubborn guy” and has a point. Khan “went to a political convention and said some very nasty things” about the Republican presidential nominee, Gingrich said.

“So, Trump’s stubborn. But Trump didn’t delete 33,000 emails,” Gingrich argued. “Trump didn’t send out secret information. Trump didn’t lie about the FBI. Hillary did all that stuff.”

“The number of things the news media could be excited by if they were willing to take this race seriously is unbelievable,” he said. “But the only thing the elite media wants to do is go after Donald Trump.”
